Water Plant

Water TreatmentWater Treatment Services

Operation of the Water Treatment Plant is contracted by Veolia.

Raw water comes from Drowning Creek and is pumped to a 140 MG raw water reservoir, then to a 20 MG raw water reservoir at the Water Treatment site before being treated. Treated water is pumped to the Town and into elevated storage tanks. While the plant is capable of producing 11 MGD or more, it is limited by its current permit to produce a maximum of 8 MGD.

Water Quality Award 2022

The N.C. Division of Water Resources has presented the prestigious N.C. Area Wide Optimization Award for turbidity removal.  Turbidity is a measure of the cloudiness of water caused by small particulates that can interfere with disinfection and provide a medium for microbial growth.  This award is presented to treatment facilities that are at the targeted 0.1 NTU, well below the regulatory limit of 0.3   NTU.

Water Sales

The town sells water to Camp Mackall, Moore County, Carolina Water for Whispering Pines, and the Town of Pinebluff. We have repeatedly won recognition in various water taste contests conducted by water quality professional associations in North Carolina.
