Yard Debris, Bulk Items, and White Goods
Town employees in our Environmental Services division collect yard debris, bulk items, and white goods from residential properties in Southern Pines.
Yard Debris Collection
The Town collects leaves, limbs, pinecones, and yard clippings from residential properties only, two times a month. Learn more about our services and what we collect.
Separate piles - we use two types of trucks to best manage the debris. Our leaf vacuum can only collect small things like leaves, pinecones, and similar.
- Place limbs and shrubbery in one pile.
- Put leaves, pinecones, and clippings in a different pile.
No trash - do not include trash, plastic, paper, or cardboard. These piles will not be collected.
Curbside collection - Yard waste must be placed at the curb. Don't place items in the road, gutters, ditches, or against fences or structures. We can't collect items that aren't located properly.
No land clearing debris. Waste from land clearing (trees, brush, or shrubbery from undeveloped lots) will not be collected.
Max of 3 cubic yards per collection, 2 collections a month. We collect up to three cubic yards per pickup, which is about the volume of filling six garbage carts or the bed of a standard pick-up truck. We visit your home twice a month.
Tree limbs must be no longer than 4 feet and no thicker than 4 inches. Separate from leaves and pine straw.
