Little Free Libraries

Little Free Libraries (2)

Little Free Libraries are small book-sharing boxes where anyone can take a book or leave a book-no library card or membership required! They're a fun, easy way to share the joy of reading with your neighbors. Whether you're out for a walk or spending time at a park, keep an eye out for one of our colorful boxes!

These Little Free Libraries are made possible through the generous support of the Friends of the Southern Pines Public Library.

How It Works

  • Take a book, leave a book
  • All ages welcome
  • No due dates, no pressure

Just grab a book you're interested in-and if you have one to share, leave it behind for someone else to enjoy!

Donate a Book

We love receiving book donations to help our Little Free Libraries stocked and vibrant! If you have gently used books you'd like to share, feel free to drop them directly into any of our Little Free Libraries or bring them to the main library. Please donate items that are clean, in good condition, and likely to bring others joy-popular fiction, inspiring nonfiction, and books for all ages are always welcome. We kindly ask that you avoid bringing anything torn, stained, moldy, or outdated (like old textbooks or encyclopedias).

More Than Just Books

Throughout the year, we occasionally transform our Little Free Libraries into Community Care Stations to help meet seasonal needs. During these times, you may find items like hygiene kits, socks, hand warmers, or school supplies-free for anyone to take, no questions asked. This small gesture can make a big difference, and we're proud to support our neighbors however we can.
