MISSION
The Friends of the Southern Pines Public Library supports and promotes the Library and enriches the cultural opportunities available to library users, striving to create a community of readers, learners, thinkers, and creators. Through advocacy, engagement, and support, we contribute to the many educational and cultural opportunities offered within the Town of Southern Pines.

Little Free Libraries
The Friends and a team of dedicated volunteers operate four Little Free Libraries in Southern Pines. Book donations of Children’s materials are needed to keep the LFLs stocked. Click here to see our LFLs on the worldwide map: Little Free Library Map - Little Free Library
RIF
The Friends of the Library provide books to all Southern Pines Elementary, McDeed's Creek Elementary, and Moore Montessori students from Pre-K to 5th grade through book distributions. The program seeks to foster a love of reading in young children by providing book choices to all students.
Special Events
The Friends sponsor a tree each year in the Annual SPBA event “Decorate the Downtown Trees.”

Programs
Funds needed by the Library to promote or purchase supplies for programs are provided solely by the Friends of the Southern Pines Public Library.
Fundraising & Endowment
The operating funds for these expenditures are mostly provided through an endowment fund in addition to yearly memberships. The Board is responsible for ensuring that all endowment funds are invested prudently and that the income from these investments is used in compliance with the charitable endeavors of the Friends of the Southern Pines Public Library.
Patron Supplies
Friends supply plastic library bags, coffee, water, flash drives, and headphones for Library patrons to purchase.
Contributions & Gifts
Contributions are welcome from corporations, organizations, and individuals. Gifts may be given in memory or honor of a person or group. Gifts and bequests may be made in the form of cash, securities, other assets, life insurance, or trusts.
