Responsibilities

The Southern Pines Fire and Rescue Department is responsible for fire suppression, fire code enforcement, public fire education, and fire prevention.

The department also provides emergency medical service in conjunction with the Moore County emergency medical service.

Service

The Fire Department responds to approximately 2,100 requests for emergency assistance each year within the Town of Southern Pines corporate limits and the Pines Fire Protection District, which surrounds the town.

Staff

The Fire Department is comprised of 33 paid full-time staff personnel, fifteen part-time staff, and eight volunteer members. The officer structure is comprised of volunteer and career staff officers who manage the department.

The Fire Department personnel are highly committed to life safety and property conservation through continuing education and advancement in technology as it applies to the fire service.
