National Pollinator Week
June 17-23, 2024
We are excited for this year's National Pollinator Week - our first year as a recognized Bee City USA. Pollinators are responsible for nearly 50% of all plant species and 35% of worldwide food production. We're doing our part in Southern Pines with pollinator gardens at our Public Library, Reservoir Park, and our bee and butterfly friendly plantings at all of our parks, facilities and planters.
You can do your part as well. Download the pamphlet Protecting Pollinators at Home for tips and ideas for helping bees and butterflies in your yard and around your home.
Join the national Bumble Bee Watch and help document bees around the area to help scientists with their research. This program is a fun way to get the whole family involved. Upload pictures and descriptions and see what others have found.
Kids can get in on the fun too! Download the workbook Incredible Invertebrates and earn your badge as an X-kid Invertebrate Protector.
