Solid Waste Collection
Solid waste services remain on a normal operating schedule.

The Town of Southern Pines provides the following solid waste services:
- Garbage collection for homes and small commercial businesses: once a week
- Residential yard waste collection two times a month
- Recycling Subscription (opt-in): Every other week (click on graphic to the right to go to recycling information)
- Collection of bulk items & white goods for residents: as needed. Call 910-693-4183 to schedule.

What type of garbage is collected in Southern Pines?
The Town collects regular waste, including food scraps, plant and animal materials from food prep, and general trash from daily activities.
All waste must be bagged.
Bags must weigh 40 pounds or less and be strong enough to hold the contents.
Customers are responsible for providing their own bags.
Do I put my cart in a specific place? Yes, place your garbage cart at the curb by 6am on your collection day. Learn more about where to place your cart to ensure our hauler can access it.
What if I am unable to physically bring my trash and recycling to the curb?
If you have a medical condition or physical restriction and do not live with someone who can bring your trash and recycling to the curb, we can approve a medical exemption and collect your garbage and recycling near your home. More details are available here.
Can I use my own trash can?
Only Town provided 95-gallon carts will be picked up by our vendor. If you need a cart, please call 910-693-4183 or send us an email.
What if my Town provided cart is broken?
Please call us at 910-693-4183 or send us an email. Our staff will remove your broken cart and deliver a replacement.

- Cart placement for curbside pickup
- Dead animals:
- On a public road or in the right-of-way: call the Town at 910-693-4183.
- On private property: a dead animal on private property is the responsibility of the property owner
- Moore County Landfill: The two Moore County collection sites closest to Southern Pines are:
- 5361 U.S. Highway 15-501, Carthage (near Hillcrest Park and the intersection of 15-501/22)
- 456 Turning Leaf Way, Aberdeen (off Hwy. 5)
