Notification #1 Regarding State of Emergency and Facility Closings
In recognition of the State of Emergency declared by the State of North Carolina yesterday, closing schools and suspending large scale gatherings among other efforts to avoid community spread of the COVID-19 virus, the Town of Southern Pines announces the following changes to standard schedules and operations:
1. The Southern Pines Library facility will be closed to the public through March 27th. On-line resources will remain available during this period. All physical materials currently on loan will have their due dates extended until April 3rd.
2. All Town Recreation and Parks programs have been suspended through March 27th. Summer camp and Spring/Summer Athletic Registration will still open March 16th and individuals interested in participating are urged to utilize our on-line resources to sign-up.
3. The Douglas Community Center public operating hours of Monday thru Friday 8:30am-5pm have been suspended through March 27th.
The Town will continue to monitor this evolving situation, and other closings, cancelations, and service changes may follow. Citizens, patrons, and customers are asked to utilize on-line resources, the telephone, secured drop-boxes, and other alternative methods of business so as to minimize both their personal contacts and out of respect for Town staff and their respective families.
The Town of Southern Pines thanks you for your understanding and patience through the disruption of daily life this unprecedented situation has created. Any additional changes in operations will be released to the media and made available on our website www.southernpines.net in addition to the various Facebook pages specific to a number of Town Departments.
