The Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is a respiratory illness that can spread from person to person. Symptoms include mild to severe respiratory illness with symptoms of fever, cough, and shortness of breath. According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the best ways to protect yourself from the virus include:

  • Washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
  • Avoiding touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoiding close contact with people who are sick. If you are sick with a respiratory illness, stay home from public places like work and school.

You can find reliable and up-to-date information on the virus nationally from the CDC, regionally from the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) COVID-19,  and locally from the Moore County Health Department.
