Dr. King speaks at the March on Washington

Community members are invited to march together to honor the life and legacy of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The MLK March will be held on Monday, January 20. Participants lineup at the Downtown Park starting at 10:30 a.m. and the March begins at 11:00 a.m. The route circles through downtown on Broad Street, then follows West Pennsylvania Avenue up to Southern Pines Primary School. The March is co-sponsored by West Southern Pines Civic Club, Faith Missionary Baptist Church, Moore County NAACP, and the Town of Southern Pines.  

Additionally events will occur during the weekend leading up to the march. The MLK Breakfast will be held on Saturday, January 18 at the Trinity Outreach Community Center at 10:00 a.m. On Sunday, January 19, the Southern Pines Primary School will host a MLK Program at 5:00 p.m.
