Summer Reading at the library is all about fun with a focus. Reading during the break from school is essential to prevent loss of learning over the summer. Children who do not participate in summer learning can lose between one to two months of instruction during the months off. Adults can help by reading and setting a good example for the children in their lives. While reading is its own reward, there are incentives, too! By logging the minutes that they read, kids can earn prizes such as animal hats, beach balls, and books. Adults and teens can enter to win weekly prize drawings.
Besides scheduled events for all ages, come into the library any time to enjoy our passive programs. Craft stations will be set up in the Kids and Teen areas of the Library. The newly-formed Book Worms Book Club does not have meetings, but encourages kids to read the monthly book pick and write reviews that will be displayed at the Library.
