[ARCHIVED] Holiday Landmark Ornaments Make Great Gifts

2002 Southern Pines Train Depot

Landmark ornaments are an annual series of collectible 24 karat gold-finished ornaments issued by Friends of Southern Pines Public Library, depicting architectural landmarks of Southern Pines. Each year the friends board reviews potential sites and selects one to commemorate. A limited number copies of each ornament are produced, dated with the year of issue.

While all proceeds from the sale of ornaments are used by Friends of Southern Pines Public Library to support many programs and services of the Library that would not be possible otherwise, the ornaments are more than a fundraising project. They promote the history of Southern Pines as reflected in its rich and varied architectural heritage.

Local residents have been collecting the series as keepsakes of their own hometown, as well as giving them to friends and family. They are also popular with visitors as reminders of their stay in our area.

$10 ornaments include (while supplies last): The Southern Pines Elementary School, he Southern Pines Civic Club, the Dempsey Student Center, Pine Knoll, the Shaw House, and the Southern Pines Public Library. The reissued edition of the Train Station ornament is $20. Payment may be made by cash or check.
