[ARCHIVED] Water Discoloration Issues

Water Quality

Water QualityWe have received a number of calls and messages about water discoloration and sulfur-like smell coming from water taps. Our Water Treatment Plant reports no issues or anomalies and we have had no major utilities connections or breaks. The water remains safe to drink.
Our recommendation is to attempt a flush of your water pipes in your home by running a water tap for 5 minutes. If the water doesn’t clear up in that time, give us a call at 910-692-2206 or 910-281-4719 (after hours call 910-692-1627).

Our Utilities and Fire Teams are flushing hydrants in order to clear water lines throughout the Town. This work will likely continue through the next couple of days.

Our team is investigating each call or message – working through them to ensure every customer gets a response. As needed, we can conduct an on-site test and flush of the water connection. Other area water systems are experiencing similar issues and are working together to share information.
