Baby Rhymes

Baby Rhymes is specially designed for the youngest learners (birth-2) and their caregivers. Repetition and comforting movements make this storytime perfect for early development and brain growth. Tuesdays at 10:30 am, with a duplicate session at 11:00 a.m.

Toddler Tunes

Does your toddler like to move and groove? Join us for Toddler Tunes to get those wiggles out! Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.

SPARK Storytime

Spark Storytime at Fire Station 82 is on Tuesdays at 2:30 pm October 12, 19, 26. This is our Baby Rhymes storytime for birth-2 offered in the afternoon with the chance to see fire trucks! SPARK Storytime is held at Fire Station 82, 7850 NC 22 Hwy, Carthage, NC 28327.

Gentle Storytime

Gentle Storytime is a sensory storytime for families with children on the autism spectrum or with multi-sensory needs. This program is for children ages 3-8 and will combine books, songs, movement, and integrative activities. ecoEXPLORE is a program for kids in K-8th grade that encourages them to make scientific observations in a fun way. Using smartphones or tablets, kids can make observations that scientists can use in their own research and also earn points and prizes at the same time! As a LoanSpot, the Southern Pines Public Library offers Loanpacks, which are filled with nature science equipment. Patrons can check out these backpacks to assist them in making observationsClick here to view our Loanpacks!

Litwits Book Club

The Litwits Book Club will take place on September 13th at 4 pm. This club is perfect for 3rd-6th graders who enjoy talking about books and meeting new friends. Litwits Book Club meets on the first Monday of each month at 4 p.m. at the Southern Pines Public Library.

Are you a teen writer interested in creative writing and storytelling? Ready to share your work, hone your craft, or just hang out and get inspired with other young writers? Join our Teen Creative Writing Club, which meets on the fourth Monday of the month at 5:30 p.m. at the Southern Pines Public Library.

  • Read Between the Pines, SPPL's evening book club for adults, meets on the third Thursday of the month at 5:30 p.m. Read Between the Pines meets at the Southern Pines Public Library, located at 170 W. Connecticut Ave. Contact for more information.

Writer’s Group

Calling writers and illustrators: Are you interested in creating fiction, nonfiction, poetry, or comics? Come to the Sunday Afternoon Writing Group! Connect with other writers and artists, chat about your craft, and get feedback about your work. All levels welcome.
