Moving To Southern Pines

Welcome to our town. We hope you can find everything you need here to help you transition smoothly and get to know our community. For more detailed information on town departments and services, please see the individual department webpages on this site.

Safety First

In an event of an emergency, the Town of Southern Pines officials may issue alerts through CodeRED, a high-speed notification solution. The CodeRED system allows messages to be quickly delivered to targeted areas of Southern Pines.

The Southern Pines Police Department utilizes a community information service known as NIXLE. Information about crime and other activities and events taking place in your community can be sent to your cell phone by text message, by email, or over the web.

We encourage town residents to try out ConnectGIS for all their mapping needs. You can use this service to:

  • Check property zoning
  • Locate flood hazards
  • Locate greenways
  • Locate points of interest
  • Print a map
  • Search for an address
  • View aerial photos
  • View the garbage pick up schedule

These are only a handful of ways you may find our interactive mapping service useful. Please explore the site for yourself and see all the possibilities.

Set Up Your Water

One of the first things you'll need to do when you buy a home in Southern Pines is to set up your water. Contact the Billing and Collections Department to turn your services. When you sign up for water, you will be charged a one-time set up fee for receiving garbage, recycling, and yard waste pick up services.

Garbage, Recycling & Waste Pick Up

You can find the weekly garbage, recycling, and yard waste pick up schedule here. Recycling is typically picked up by the curb, but we are pleased to offer front-porch pick-up to residents with handicaps or disabilities. If you would like your recycling to be picked up from your front porch, please fill out this form and send it to Public Works.

Get Involved

Our community is only as great as our citizens make it, so get involved and don't forget to register to vote. Visit the Moore County Election Board for more information about registering. You can find out which polling station you are zoned for by searching your address here.

The library offers a wide variety of services, resources, and programs. There are a number of 24/7 online resources and many leisure reading resources, including best sellers and eBooks available to card holders. There are also continuing education opportunities and programs for all ages. Town residents and property owners can get cards at no charge. Just visit the Library and bring these items.
