The Town of Southern Pines supports families and children through a number of programs. Recreation and Parks has many active youth activities all year long, and the Public Library hosts fun and educational programming year-round such as pre-school Storytimes, special event programming, reading clubs, and the Summer Reading Program. The Town is also a member of Southern Pines Grows Great Readers, and initiative to get our children reading on grade-level, and the Library, along with many partners, offers resources for parents and children to support literacy.
Senior citizens in the town have a wide range of programming and resources available to them. The Recreation Department has trips, programs, and classes for seniors. The Library also offers an Explorations series in Adult programming in addition to its reading collections.
Southern Pines is a great place for leisure as well as learning, and the Town offers many ways to enjoy its resources. The Town's Buildings & Grounds Department keeps the town looking beautiful and inspires citizens to be out and about. The Recreation & Parks Services include access to local Parks as well as fun programs. The Library offers many leisure reading resources, including best sellers and eBooks. There are also continuing education opportunities for fun learning such as studying a language with Mango, studying life and career skills with Learning Express, and getting to know the world with National Geographic.
