The Non-Resident Membership Form (PDF) can be printed, filled out, and brought to our offices. This and the appropriate yearly payment will allow non-resident families, all members living in the same household, to participate in programs at the resident rate.
Online payment of Recreation fees is now available.

After School Program
(ages youth in grades k-8th)
Do something fun after school, plus get your homework done. Education, recreation, and socialization hit the spot after a long day of school. Begins the first day of school. Following the Southern Pines Elementary School Traditional Calendar. See Registration for full details.

One Day Camps
Junior Camp Counselors
(ages 14 & 15 years)
Too young to get a real job? Too old to sit around the house watching cartoons? Not interested in cleaning the house or picking up the yard? Get involved in a great volunteer opportunity that offers on-the-job training in planning, set-up, and clean-up of games & activities, helping children in a fun atmosphere, and a chance to work along side and under the supervision of great instructors. Full Day Camps
Summer Explorers Camp
(5-7 & 8-13 years - Must have attended kindergarten)
Play is our thing and children are encouraged to participate. Our commitment includes developing campers' life skills through group activities, exposure to diverse athletic games, creative and educational experiences. Participants will take part in a wide range of activities which include swimming, arts & crafts, environmental education, dance athletic games and more. Emphasis is placed on having fun, trying new things, teamwork, learning by doing and enjoying the process of discovery. Activities will include: swimming, arts & crafts, games, nature & science, free time, field trips, and much more. Space is limited, so early registration is suggested. A $10r/$20nr non-refundable deposit (which will be applied to the weekly fee) is required to hold your spot for each session.

Wild World of Nature Camp
(7-12 years)
Enjoy an educational adventure discovering what the natural world does behind the scenes. When you look outside, you may see birds flitting, butterflies fluttering, and trees and flowers changing with the seasons, but underneath the calm, beautiful exterior, there is an amazing race for survival going on! Learn all about the icky, amazing, and sometimes unbelievable goings on in nature with this interesting and active camp. The Amazing Southern Pines Race
(10 - 15 years)
Are you good at cryptoquotes, Suduko, crosswords and riddles? Put your knowledge and your reasoning skills to the test as your team competes against other teams in the first ever Amazing Southern Pines Race. Research and creative thinking are keys to help search out the next clue. Three teams, three different directions on foot each (with an adult chaperone). Where will they end up? Over five days the teams will tour Southern Pines businesses and Landmarks, learn local history and trivia, and depend on each other to find the treasure.

Hiking Into The Past

History is closer than you think. Search the natural history of the Sandhills at Weymouth Woods, Tour the Shaw House, Learn local lore of Blue's Crossing and Bethesda Communtiy, and trace our unique ecosystem. Camp is perfect for adventurous, energetic students who enjoy being outdoors. Drop off and pick up locations will vary during the camp.

How Does Your Garden Grow?
(6-10 years)
Budding gardeners learn about plants from a worms eye view; soil enrichment (squirmy worms), hydrology (getting muddy), seed germination (fast forward), seasonal harvest, geting to know the native plants of the Sandhills and eating with color. Dig in the dirt, Plant seeds, Harvest, Cook, and Eat. Even picky eaters will enjoy using crock pots; vegetable soup, corn bread and berry cobbler; and toss up salad and homemade salad dressing!

Easy As Pie

The 21st Century vs Betty Crocker and Jr. Home Economics. Who really was Betty Crocker? What do you do with those little buttons in packages? How do you decorated a cake? Make a pie? Can I really make supper for four, for ther cost of one Happy Meal? (Note: toy not included.) What are aprons for? Can I really bake a cake in a crock pot? How many days does it take a seed to germinate? From making your own apron, learning the parts of a sewing machine, sewing on button, to making frosting, decorating a cake, setting a table, and caring for a garden and making a salad, taking home a homemade pie and casserole (to bake for supper).

Fall Football Cheer
(ages 7-12)
Show your spirit and come cheer with us. Learn arm motion technique, proper posture, jumps and kicks, tumbling, stunting, side line cheers, dances and more. Your child will learn to memorize cheers and master the art of performing them. Youth interested in cheerleading, are enthusiastic, full of energy, and planning to cheer for the Fall Youth Tackle Football League should attend camp. Adult volunteers are needed to help lead Fall cheerleading squads-no cheering experience necessary. (11 and 12 year old girls will be grouped on a Senior Level Squad).

Rod, Reel and Tackle Loaner Program
Kids who don't have parents who fish or money to buy equipment can check out a rod, reel and tackle to give "America's #1 Sport" a try. Zebco 33 classic rods and reels will be provided for check out, along with tackle and a how-to-fish booklet. Parents must fill out a registraton form then a check out card will be issued. Springfest/Tour De Moore/Youth Bike Races
Fun family entertainment. Enjoy handmade crafts, tasty concessions, Kid's Block of fun activities, youth bike races, and much more! Bring your bike, tricycle, big wheel, etc., for the annual Youth Bike Races for children 10 and under. Short sprint races will be held in front of the Sunrise Theatre on Broad Street. Races begin at 11:15am. All biking participants must wear a bike helmet.

Kayak Trip

Enjoy a great introduction to the pleasures of kayaking, scenic views of flora, fauna, and wildlife along the Lumber River. Enjoy the twists and turns of the river around sandbars and cypress trees and you will soon realize why this is designated a Natural and Scenic River. Our 8.4 mile trip has us accessiong the river at Broadman and pulling out at Princess Ann. No paddling experience required. Bring lunch and a drink.
