All league teams in Southern Pines Recreation Sports Programs are dependent upon having adult managers and assistant coaches to provide instruction, leadership, and coordinating team practices. Their knowledge, time and efforts make a difference in our youth's experience while participating in team sports. Become a Volunteer Coach or Coach Helper and experience with your child the fun and excitement of youth sports and competition. Join the team - print out the form(s) listed below and return to Southern Pines Recreation Department 482 E. Connecticut Avenue, Southern Pines, NC 28387 today! (must be 16 years of age or older). Coach's will need to fill out both forms.

Sandhills Officials Association
The Sandhills Officials Association is currently recruiting sports officials for the coming year. Includes officiating of football, basketball, softball, and kickball games. No experience necessary. Youth Golf Lessons
(Coed ages 9-15)
Golf is a sport you can play for a lifetime, so get your son or daughter started today! The Golf Professionals at Knollwood Fairways will once again teach this session of lessons. Class emphasis is on swing mechanics, club selection and basic and etiquette. Lessons will be conducted during four straight days. The program is sponsored by the Southern Pines Recreation and Parks Departmenr and co-sponsored by Knollwood Fairways. Junior Golf clubs are available for check out at the Campbell House Recreation office. We ask that parents arrive at least 5 minutes prior to their child's lessons, and they are there to pick their child back up at least 5 minutes prior to the end of the lesson.

12th Annual Community Golf Day
The Southern Pines Recreation & Parks Department, along with local golf courses, will be offerig its 12th Annual Community Golf Day to help raise money to impove the golf facilities at the Campbell House. Over 500 people have played in the event. The golf day is scheduled to be played in November, courses included Mid Pines, and Southern Pines Elks Lodge and Longleaf Country Club. Come support our golf program by playing in this golf outing! Check our registraton form for dates and fees. Must have the registration form to participate.
Junior Tennis Program
The Southern Pines Recreation and Parks Department will again offer beginner level tennis lessons for youth this fall! In addition to learning a fun sport and further developing their tennis skills, your children will get a great workout and meet new friends! Lessons are Co-Sponsored by Sandhills Tennis Association, See you in the Spring.

Winter Youth Basketball
(Ages 5-12 as of October 16, 2013)
This fun and intructional basketball league for children 5-12 years old will begin in early December. League focus will be on basic skill development, teamwork...and fun of course! The Southern Pines Recreation Department is always looking for volunteer coaches, so if you are interested, let us know!
Pre-registration is required.
Registration ends Thursday, November 7, 2013.

13-15 Year Old Basketball League
Eligible participants must be between the ages of 13-15 as of October 16, 2013. Middle School basketball team players that meet the age requirement are also eligible to participate. This basketball program will run from December through March, 2013.

Schedule: Tuesday and Thursday nights at Southern Pines Elementary School Gym

Sunday Open Gym
Are you tired of just sitting arond and watching television durning the winter months? Get up, get moving, and get some exercise. The Southern Pines Recreation Center Gyms are open each Sunday for pick-up basketball games from 1:30pm to 5:00pm.
Open Gym requires a season pass:
$5 for youth residents/$10 for youth non-residents; and persons 16 & older the fee is $10 for residents and $20 for non-residents.
Passes are good for the entire Sunday Open Gym season - but cannot be pro-rated. You must have a pass ad ID to attend Open Gym.
Passes are sold at the Southern Pines Receation Department Mondays - Fridays. from 8:30am - 5:00pm.
Open gym runs December 1st through March 2nd.
(Closed December 22nd and December 29th)
Industrial Basketball League
A Men's Industrial League will be offered again this winter. A team representative must attend this meeting to determine interest in the program. Important information such as fees, rules and regulations, and dates will be discussed. Game dates and times will vary depending on the number of teams in the league, but will range from Monday-Thursday evenings at 7:00, 8:00 or 9:00pm.
