Coaches Corner
All league teams in Southern Pines Recreation Sports Programs are dependent upon having adult managers and assistant coaches to provide instruction, leadership, and coordinating team practices. Their knowledge, time and efforts make a difference in our youth's experience while participating in team sports. Become a Volunteer Coach or Coach Helper and experience with your child the fun and excitement of youth sports and competition. Join the team - print out the form(s) listed below and return to Southern Pines Recreation Department 482 E. Connecticut Avenue, Southern Pines, NC 28387 today! (must be 16 years of age or older). Coach's will need to fill out both forms.

Winter Youth Basketball Leagues
Leagues are held for youth 5 to 12 years old (age as of October 16, 2009). The 5 & 6 and 7 & 8 year olds will practice on a week night and play on Saturdays. The 9 & 10 year old league is held on Mondays, Tuesdays and Saturdays. The 9 - 12 year old girls league is held on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The 11 & 12 year old boys' league is held on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. All games and practices are held at the Southern Pines Recreation Center and the Southern Pines Elementary School.
Registration is through Friday, November 13, 2009
Fee: $10r / $25nr

13 - 15 Year Old Basketball League This league was designed for older youth who don't play school basketball to get the opportunity to come out and play. The league is fun and exciting. You are eligible if you are between the ages of 13 - 15 as of October 16, 2009. The league runs December through March.

Sunday Open Gym
Get ready for the winter months... tired of sitting around and watching television in the winter? Getup, get moving, and get some exercise! The Southern Pines Recreation Center Gyms will be open each Sunday for pick up basketball games. Open Gym requires a season pass that is good for the entire Sunday Open Gym season, but can't be pro-rated. You must have a pass and ID to attend Open Gym. Passes are sold at the Southern Pines Recreation Department at 482 E. Connecticut Avenue - Mondays - Fridays from 8:30 am - 5:00 pm.

Industrial Basketball League
Organizational Meeting
A Men's Industrial League will be offered. A team representative must attend the meeting. Call 692-2463 for questions or to advise you will be attending. Important information such as fees, rules and regulations, and dates will be discussed.

Sandhills Optimist Baseball
(Ages 7-12 - as of April 30, 2010)
This league is administered by Sandhills Optimist Club, on the fields in Southern Pines, Pinehurst, and Aberdeen. New player evaluation March 6th, at Memorial Park, Birth certificates required for all new players. Major League 11 & 12 years, Minor League 9 & 10 years, and Rookie League 7 & 8 years.
