Citizen Input Needed for Moore County Comprehensive Transportation Plan

Residents of Southern Pines are encouraged to participate in a unique opportunity to plan their transportation future. Through a series of public workshops called charrettes, citizens of Moore County will work together to create a vision for the county's transportation needs. The decisions made by the public will help create the county's Comprehensive Transportation Plan.

Planning for the proposed alignment of the US 1 Hwy. corridor through and/or around the Town of Southern Pines is one major focus of the workshops.  These will be held at various locations in the county including one at the Douglass Community Center in Southern Pines on Nov. 4 from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.

Information and materials about the Comprehensive Transportation Plan and charrettes, including a full schedule of dates and locations, can be found at www.ncdot.gov/projects/moorechoices. The website hosts videos, maps and other resources. There is also an opportunity for residents to share their ideas about the county’s transportation needs.
