Historic District Commission

The Historic District Commission members review applications for construction, altering or demolishing buildings/structures within the Town of Southern Pines designated historic district. The commission also issues certificates of appropriateness. The Commission may request the North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources or the North Carolina Historic Commission to review, comment on and make recommendations about applications for certificates of appropriateness.

There are seven members of the Historic District Commission who serve four year overlapping terms. A majority of the members must have demonstrated a special interest, experience or education in history or architecture.
