MakerBoxes Now Available!
Go beyond books in the Library and think outside the box! MakerBoxes let you use your own creativity to design and experiment with a range of materials. Boxes are checked out for use within the library, and you can combine boxes to create even more in depth products. Options include Legos TM, Rainbow Loom TM, Marble Run TM, and much more!

Early Learning (Birth - Age 5) Every Child Ready to Read at Your Library
Developed by the Public Library Association in conjunction with the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, Every Child Ready to Read is designed to give parents and caregivers tools they can use to help their children learn important pre-reading skills that will make it easier for them when they start school. Read to Your Bunny Storytimes Join us on Wednesday afternoons at 3:30 p.m. for storytime! Check out our Storytime page for more information!
Outreach Services In addition to storytimes inside the library, staff visit preschools and childcare centers in Southern Pines on a monthly basis. Using methods from the Every Child Ready to Read program, library staff work with students and staff from 14 childcare facilities. During the 2014-2015 school year, an average of 386 children and 66 adults were seen each month (from September to May).
NC Digital Library eReading Room for Kids
In addition to the electronic books and electronic audiobooks for adults, SPPL has access to the NCDL eReading Room for Kids. All you need is a library card and a PIN to enjoy these resources!
Tumblebooks Check out our link to Tumblebooks, an online collection of animated, talking picture books which teach young children the joys of reading in a format they'll love!
Kindergarten to Fifth (K-5) Programs
If you are interested in family fun, check out our Family Fun Night held every second Thursday of the month and our once a month family movie on Sunday Afternoon. Keep an eye on our Summer Reading page for happenings June through August. Our Kids' Special Events page will let you know about our Saturday crafts and happenings in the community and at the Library!
