33rd Annual Senior Games in the Pines

Senior Games is a network of 53 local games held in every county or region of North Carolina. It consists of two divisions of competition- SilverArts for the creative person and official sports for those more athletically inclined.

Our fitness and wellness programs and facilities allow Adults 55 Plus to improve and maintain their health while having fun. 

NEW!  Pickleball   -  Indoor and Outdoor

A game for everyone!  This fun new program combines the skills of tennis, badminton, and table tennis.

Times:  9:30 am -11:30 am (During the school year)
Location:  Southern Pines Recreation Center
Fee:  $10 r / $20 nr (six month-bi-annual cycle)

Get into shape in our Douglass Community Center fitness room. Equipment available includes: exercise balls, stretch bands, free weights, exercise tubing, universal machine, elliptical machine, stationary bikes, treadmill, Wii fit, and more. Fitness room is open during regular operating hours. You can not get a better deal than this for fitness equipment.

Walking is one of the best ways to exercise. It helps burn calories, builds muscle, releases endorphins, reduces the risk of heart disease, helps maintain healthy bones, controls blood pressure and...its fun!. Enjoy walking and meeting new people. Gyms are climate controlled.
Corn Hole
Date:        Any Monday - Friday
Time:        8:30 am - 4:00 pm

Corn Hole, also known as bean bag toss, corn toss, baggo, or bags, is a lawn game in which players take turns throwing bean bags at a raised platform with a hole in the far end.  A corn bag in the hole scores three points, while one on the platform scores one point. Play continues until a player reaches the score of 21. 
Call ahead of time to set up game. 
Sassy Tappers
Dates:      Mondays and Wednesdays
Time:       1:00 pm -2:30 p.m.
Fee:          $15 residents / $30 nonresidents (six mo. cycle)

Advanced Tap

Join us for an advance tap class. Tap dancing is a fun and exciting way to exercise!
Table Tennis
Date:       Tuesdays  (6 month cycle) *except

Table tennis is the most popular racket sport in the world, with over 300 million active members of governing associations worldwide. We use regulation tables, table tennis balls and rackets. Beginners and Advanced.

Equipment:  Check-out at DCC, Mon-Fri 8:30-5pm 
You can enjoy one of the most fun activities for free! Stop by the Douglass Community Center to check out a key and play shuffleboard at our Memorial Park location. We have two shuffleboard Courts. You can play day or night.
Fishing - Check-out a Rod & Reel

Want to go fishing or teach a child to fish but don't have a rod & reel?  Check out a Zebco 33 classic rod and reel for free during office hours. Take a trip to Reservoir Park or wherever you wish. Bring ID and fill out a check-out form. NC Fishing license rules apply.
Bocce Ball
             Park is open 365 days per year  Time:            Dawn to Midnight

Bocce ball has been played since the 1500's and can be played with two players, teams and more! Can be played at DCC or on the court at Memorial Park.
