Internship Overview

Program Details
The Southern Pines Recreation and Parks Department has designed and implemented a 12-week internship program that provides students with a well-rounded experience, which introduces the intern to all aspects of a diverse and comprehensive parks and recreation program.

This provides the students with an opportunity to put what they have learned to work. It is a "hands on" experience that reflects what park and recreation professionals do on the job to ensure the necessary and enhanced services to the community.

“I am so excited for this opportunity with the Recreation and Parks Department here in Southern Pines. I cannot wait to take what I have learned in the classroom and use it as a hands on experience out in the field. I am most excited about working with the participants who attend the events, programs, and camps put on by the department. I know that with the guidance of the staff here that I will be able to take a lot away from this experience to use after graduation,” says Meredith.
“This learning experience will give me a first look into what I’ll need to know in the profession. I think that the Southern Pines Recreation & Parks staff will be a great guiding light for me and my future in the parks and recreation field and I cannot wait to see what is in store for the summer.”
